All 3 of these video were shot a few weekends ago. The first video is me playing with the Parelli Friendly Game. The 2nd video is me showing how I use the cavalettis to work Enzo's weak/locking stifles. I have to say! The hill therapy, red light therapy, and my cavalettis are really helping and building his back end too! I just love it! I REALLY wish I would have taped Enzo when his stifle were his worst and taken video of his small muscles! I then could have gotten "after" video of how Enzo now walks MUCH better, hasn't locked his stifle on every step now and how large his muscles have gotten!!! The 3rd video was me working on his canter on a 22 foot line. Enzo didn't need to go over the cavaletti, but I left them there and it was up to him to either go over or to go around them. My parelli send wasn't the best, but I was thrilled at the nice canter Enzo offered anyway. I hope you are enjoying your equine partners as well!! What do you think of the videos? Keep it natural, Janine, Enzo and Kaspin!
I love how he is so quick to respond. like "did you ask me to come in mom? Ok' here I am, what's next!?"
ReplyDeleteLOL, thanks Melissa!!!
DeleteI love Enzo!!! He's so smart and beautiful! I'm glad the hills and cavaletti are helping. Would you mind sharing how much and how often you're doing both sometime? I want to do cavaletti with Chrome to build up with wimpy haunches but I don't know how often I need to do it or when I will start seeing results. I also appreciate the video because I didn't know I could just use two cavaletti. I thought they had to go through a whole line of them. Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteThanks. Not long at all. When I do the cavaletties I would say the longest is maybe 10 mins. Maybe not even that, because it gets boring. But yes, you can set up cavaletties anywhere! I could set up 10 of them all over the arena and move around the arena and go over them once and a while as we keep traveling. Even in that circle I can set up 4 like a clock. One at 12, one at 3pm, once at 6pm, and one at 9pm. I just change it up all the time. So like I mentioned it not soooo boring. It's just to get him to use his stifles and pick up his back legs. When I am outside on the hills. I too would say 10 to 20 mins and I am constantly changing the routine out there also. I even have him back up the hill and back down the hill. I even ask him to go sideways on the hill. When I fist started I only did 5 mins, or less just to be safe with his muscles. I also only do this about 2 times a week and I saw things change after the first 2 weeks. So it doesn't take long at all. Hope this helps! I really wish I had before and after pics!
DeleteYes I do get your replies in my email. :D Thank you soooo much for the information. I'm going to try that because Chrome's haunches look so puny compared to his powerful shoulders. Besides strong muscles and especially stifles are a good thing even if you don't have any existing problems. I'm very happy it's helping Enzo so much. :D
