Made a base out of plywood about 4inches bigger than the pallets on all sides, then nailed a piece of rubber matting to the top.

You can also paint the top and add sand to the paint to make it non slip.

Sharon - Parelli CentralSharonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10886877882585562066noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9133025590776895885.post-88031457105568276152011-01-08T05:41:26.628-08:002011-01-08T05:41:26.628-08:00Thanks!!! Unfortunately, I am at a boarding place and I need to put all my items away after each use and this thing is heavy, LOL. I can turn it on the side and then roll it wherever. I have just made sure that I am teaching Enzo to use the center of the circle more. When Enzo steps on the edges I make him get off again and start over. This way, I don't set him up for flipping over and spooking him. I am only using this for front feet. I plan to build a nice correct pedestal once I move to NC. Then I will be all set. But thanks for the options as well!Janinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14526076493821209436noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9133025590776895885.post-49593013702724070262011-01-07T22:04:42.150-08:002011-01-07T22:04:42.150-08:00To stabilize your platform you could use 1/2 or 5/...To stabilize your platform you could use 1/2 or 5/8 inch thick plywood for a base. Just cut a peice larger than the original base.(you could use a jigsaw to cut it round or just make it square)I would use deck screws to secure it that way you can remove it easily.
You should be able to cover the base with sand
so your pony does not step on it.snowmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09426421731499163623noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9133025590776895885.post-59705538760335499682011-01-07T17:15:06.556-08:002011-01-07T17:15:06.556-08:00Yeah I don't think the barrel would work becau...Yeah I don't think the barrel would work because the sides are so bad about caving in. I will look online for some plans. Thanks for telling me the pros and cons. I did notice in the video that it was trying to tilt sometimes. :) Thanks!Achieve1dreamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15401246064499148344noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9133025590776895885.post-65740805776479704092011-01-07T10:14:13.266-08:002011-01-07T10:14:13.266-08:00Ohhh and the pedistal does need weight to it. I have tried all kinds of items and without the bottom being larger. They all flip over if your horse uses the edge of the item even with 1 foot. Kristen, I have paper plans to build one at my home. If you want to pick up a copy for yourself you can? I don't know what the cost of wood would be to build????? I will have Chris build me one when I move.Janinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14526076493821209436noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9133025590776895885.post-83103372072148302712011-01-07T10:08:49.747-08:002011-01-07T10:08:49.747-08:00I meant to say "IF" lolI meant to say "IF" lolKristen Eleni Shellenbargerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01458744919530540978noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9133025590776895885.post-22915990592939577462011-01-07T10:08:22.493-08:002011-01-07T10:08:22.493-08:00I wonder is sawing a rubber barrel in half would w...I wonder is sawing a rubber barrel in half would work??Kristen Eleni Shellenbargerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01458744919530540978noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9133025590776895885.post-77851892364885920232011-01-07T06:43:55.439-08:002011-01-07T06:43:55.439-08:00Thanks guys!!! I reccomend finding directions on the internet to build a correct pedistal. I garbage picked this large spool and then I had my dad re-enforce the sides as you see and it serves us ok for now. But without the bottom the pedistal being larger it does have a tendance to flip over. Especially if Enzo gets onto it by the very edges of it. That is why I buried the botom part in the sand. I am using the sand to weigh it down. So it does not flip over sooo easy. So basically for FREE it works for now. But it's not the best. And it's not the best to teach NEW baby horses on. Because, if it does flip or move a lot. Then the horse of course does not trust you as a leader. Nor feels very comfortable getting on it. Hope this helps!!!!Janinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14526076493821209436noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9133025590776895885.post-37585930336803094302011-01-06T17:32:22.832-08:002011-01-06T17:32:22.832-08:00That was awesome!!!
